Introduction
Located in the heart of the Black Forest in Germany, the housing concept for the employees of EUROPA-PARK, one of Europe’s largest amusement parks, aims to blend indoor living spaces with environmentally friendly outdoor areas. Designed by archis Architekten +Ingenieure, this project prioritizes comfort and sustainability for both temporary and permanent staff members.
Integrating Nature
Comprising three individual buildings, the complex boasts a green core with high amenity value. The roof of the underground parking serves as an outdoor retreat area, seamlessly connected to the surrounding outdoor rural space, such as the meadow orchard. This thoughtful design caters to the needs of seasonal employees who require individual rest periods due to varying work shifts.
Balancing Privacy and Community
The urban development concept emphasizes a balance between individual spaces and communal living areas. Each inhabitant can personalize their comfort zone while enjoying privacy and soundproofing. The complex includes 14 flats designed for people with reduced mobility, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all residents.
Sustainability at Its Core
The design incorporates glass elements and extensive heat- and sun protection measures to enhance energy efficiency and thermal comfort. Natural materials, including wood for the facade, create a warm and inviting atmosphere while minimizing environmental impact. The building generates thermal energy sustainably, without CO2 emissions, contributing to its eco-friendly profile.
Innovative Living Spaces
The use of green roofs not only enhances the sustainability of the complex but also provides contemporary and innovative living experiences for residents. With a focus on low maintenance and durability, the building shell is designed to withstand the test of time while offering modern amenities and comfort.
By seamlessly integrating nature, sustainability, and comfort, the Apartments for the Employees EUROPA-PARK project sets a new standard for employee housing, prioritizing the well-being and satisfaction of its residents.
